ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU, (VOLUME TWO) 17TH EDITION
He
is indeed the right man for any job that needs to be professionally
handled with cost cutting measures and without compromising the required
standard. He is very honest, articulate, hardworking and highly
organized. You would definitely not be on his good book if you are the
type that gives flimsy excuses for non-performance. He
is a good leader, he could sometimes be seen as tough by those who cut
corners and wouldn’t walk straight but he certainly has a good heart and
believes seriously in respecting constituted authorities. He is a no
nonsense person; a disciplined community leader and Public Servant. No
doubt, he is a very good manager of man and resources.
Alhaji Rafiu Olalekan Yusuff was born on the 7th of March 1962 to the family of Pa Yusuff Amuda of Woru’s Compound in Ilobu. He started his primary education at Ansarudeen Primary School, Ilobu in 1970 and finished in 1975 with the Primary School Leaving Certificate in his kit. His advancement for a secondary education took him to Ilobu Secondary Commercial Grammar School in 1975, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1980. He proceeded to Baptist High School Ede, between 1980 and 1982. In 1983 he passed his GCE Advanced Level. For a better tomorrow, which was unknown then, he strived and got admitted to study Geography at the Prestigious University of Ibadan where he bagged a B.Sc. Degree in Geography in 1988. He cemented his university education with 2 Masters Degrees from the great Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, one in Public Administration in 1997 and the other in Local Government Studies in 2000.
Thus, in November 1989, he joined the Osun State Local Government Service Commission as a Higher Executive Officer in Odo-Otin Local Government, Okuku. Work took him across the length and breadth of Osun State; Irepodun, Ila, Osogbo, Egbedore, Boluwaduro, Ifedayo, Ayedire, Atakumosa, Ife North and Ife Central. He rose through hard work, professionalism, dedication to duties and honesty to become the Director of Administration and General Services in the Local Government Service Commission in 2009 until Government policy moved Senior Officers out of the Local Government in 2016. With the new policy of Government, he became the Hospital Secretary, State Hospital, Ile-Ife, a position he has held from April 2016 to date. He has used his positions in the civil service to assist Ilobu sons and daughters whenever his assistance is required
Worth noting is that Alhaji Rafiu Olalekan Yusuff is not a push-over as far as Personnel Management is concerned in the State of Osun and Nigeria as a geographical expression. Aside his solid standing as a university graduate with 2 Masters Degrees, he is professionally trained, registered and certified by different management based professional bodies. In 1994, he became an Affiliate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) and secured a full membership of the body in 2000. In 2011, he became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria and in 2015 he became a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is proudly the Chairman, State of Osun Branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria since 2015.
His commitment to Ilobu affairs and service to humanity in general is wholesome and total. He had served humanity, holding various positions within and outside the community. He was the Secretary General Ilobu Development Union between 2006 and 2010, the Vice President of Ilobu Development Union, between 2010 and 2014. He became the Patron of Ilobu National Students’ Union in 2012 and has since taken it as his responsibility to guide the students’ body, follow its activities, play advisory roles and many at times finance the students’ programmes from his purse. No doubt, his appointment has the Patron of INSU gave the Union the needed revival at a dying stage. In 2014, when he became the President of Ilobu Development Union, he used his position and exploited management skills at his disposal to ensure that a beautiful Students’ Library standing within Ilobu House Complex otherwise known as INSU Secretariat was brought to completion, equipped with the needed facilities and handed over to the students’ body for use.
Today, as the President of IDU, he has made another giant leap by embarking on the completion of the Ilobu House Complex, thereby giving way for other projects to surface. Suffice to add that it will interest you to know that part of his hobby is Community Service; therefore his activities are just mere expression of the knack to serve at every time an opportunity beckons at him.
Thus, an x-ray of who is Alhaji Rafiu Olalekan Yusuff puts up a beautiful picture of a good ambassador of Ilobu with passion to showcase the greatness of Ilobu Asake and her natives wherever he served. Also, as a committed community leader, with huge investment and interest in youth development and Ilobu community as a whole, I therefore with every sense of respect and humility present him to the public for celebration and appreciation as an illustrious son of Ilobu Asake.
