ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU, (VOLUME TWO) 13TH EDITION

Image
In focus today, is a man who stole the hearts of many students in those good old days. His house was strategically located at the entrance of Ilobu Secondary Commercial Grammar School now Ilobu High School as a result of Government policy. His neat BMW car used to be a sign that he was around and thus the zeal and determination in the teeming students was more than fired each time he rode exotically into his compound in his “pleasure car”. He is very quiet, intelligent and smart. His world was a beacon of hope to many boys and girls in the white and green uniform. Engineer Lere Ojo (MNSE) was born on the 1st day of October 1949 to Pa David Ojo and Madam Maria Olalonpe Ojo of Gbena’s Compound in Ilobu. He attended St Michael’s Anglican Primary School, Ilobu between 1956 and 1962. He proceeded to St Paul’s Modern School, Ilobu and attended between 1963 and 1964. In 1963, while in the modern school, a teacher advised him that he was not a modern school material and as s...

This edition presents a young, dynamic, composed and a master strategist. His upbringing, training and exposure are such that have helped to bring to fore a man who never fails in whatever assignment is given unto him. He is a dependable personality with distinctions in human relation, group management and project execution. He is a worthy ambassador of the youth assembly, with tantalizing traits of a hybrid machine in running strategic errands for his community. Alhaji Raheem Kolapo Sanusi was born on the 4th of March, 1969. He hails from Akala’s Compound in Ilobu. He started his Primary education at AUD Primary School, Laaro, Ilobu and proceeded to St Paul’s Modern School, Ilobu but when the school transformed to a Grammar School in 1982 as a result of the Late Chief Bola Ige free education policy as the Governor of the then Oyo State, he had to continue the pursuance of a secondary education in the same school. He graduated in flying colours in 1985. His leaders...

This edition presents a personality who is an encyclopedia of Arabic and Islamic knowledge. This has in no small measure helped him to organize himself into a true religious person who has lived as a model and career-guide to many up-coming lads. He is exquisitely humble, articulate, organized, dependable and responsible. No doubt , he has succeeded in shaping many lives via western education, Islamic teachings/sermons and unbending good deeds. He had used his status and position to help bind people to their creator and closed gap between man and pessimism. Alhaji Abdulazeez Salam was born to Alhaji Salam of Olowola’s Compound in Ilobu some seventy years ago. He attended Woru “B” Primary School, Ilobu for his Primary education between 1955 and 1958; he moved to AUD Primary School, Ilobu in 1959 and completed his primary education in 1960. He then proceeded to AUD Modern School, Osogbo in 1961 and left in 1963 to pursue Arabic Studies at Olokuta Arabic Training Cent...

A lion would not be a threat to other animals at birth. It certainly lives to attain the status of the King of the Jungle after much time, training and adaptation to the customs and traditions of its peers. The man being x-rayed is no doubt a colossus in the humanitarian sector, a disciplined and well trained teacher, a guru of inf ormation collection and dissemination. He is an Octogenarian with many glittering feathers to his cap; good enough to arrest a positive minded person who also desires a Godly way of life from afar. Chief Solomon Adedokun Adisa was born in 1932 to Pa Daniel Omotoso Ayangbemi Adisa of Oluwofin/Elesin Pupo’s Compound, Ilobu. His father’s early exposure to Christianity fueled his desire to send all his children to school. His acceptability of the Christian religion enhanced his ability to be able to read and write in Yoruba Language. Thus, in 1944, he registered Solomon Adedokun Adisa at St Michael’s Anglican Primary School, Ilobu. His brothe...

This edition presents a very vibrant, articulate and versatile son of the soil. He is one man created to function in different capacities. He was trained as an Economist, got involved in journalism, participated in politics, taught and administered high schools leaving indelible marks and records worthy of emulation and appreciati on at all the places where he worked. He is well traveled, exposed and gifted with the power of oration and writing. No doubt, he is a blessing to his generation and those behind him. Chief Bayode Olagunju Ogunmupe was born on the 18th of April, 1948 at Ajitapa’s Compound, Isale Imale, Ilobu but grew up with his maternal grandfather; Labanji Amoo Olokunesin of Agboni’s Compound, Ilobu. Life is pictured by some deep thinkers as a drama orchestrated, directed, filmed and presented to mortals by God. Man’s struggle to survive is just an effort towards achieving the role(s) prepared for him by his creator. Thus, my focus is on a man who lost his father; the bread winner of the family at a very tender age and yet stil l made it to the top of his chosen career. With every precious step that he took, he was moving closer to his destiny. Alhaji Omotayo Alalade Bashir Ajayi was born at Ipasa-Oye, Surulere Local Government, Oyo State on the 2nd of March, 1961 to Pa Salam Ayinde and Madam Saadat Awero of Ajankanawon’s Compound, Ilobu. Unfortunately, his father died on the 10th of November 1966 after a brief illness when he had not even started schooling. With the support of his mother’s elder sister, Madam Safurat Alice Adeyemo of Onilewe’s Compound (Engineer Wole Adeyemo’s Step Mum), he was enrolled at St Michael Primary School, Ilobu in 1967 with his immedia...

In this edition, my searchlight is beamed on a man who is quiet but not timid, calm but highly intelligent, cool headed and highly indefatigable. He is wonderfully endowed with that natural ability to get things perfectly done to the admiration of the people. Alhaji Kareem Olasunkanmi Ajayi was born on March 1, 1948 to the family of the late Pa Afolabi Ajayi of Gbobamu’s Compound, Ilobu. He attended St Mary’s Catholic School, Yekemi, Ile-Ife, A.U.D Modern School, Erin-Osun and Islamic High School, Ibadan where he obtained his Secondary School Certificate in 1967. Between 1968 and 1970, he attended the Provincial Teachers’ College, Osogbo for his Grade II Certificate. He crowned his search for a western education by proceeding to the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, where he bagged a B.A.ED in History. His training as a teacher took him in and out of many citadels of learning. He taught at Gombe Teachers’ College, Gombe, Divisional Teachers’ College, Ikirun, Akinorun G...
