ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU, (VOLUME TWO) 18TH EDITION

He is indeed a very quiet personality but highly intelligent, calculative, organised and has passion for growth and development. He is one man, who walks around unnoticed but is well known to be morally upright, honest, straightforward and committed to Ilobu agenda. He is not the noise making type but he mingles very well with his peers who share the same philosophy of making the world a better place to live in.

Mr. Alabi Oluwole Michael was born in the early 1960s to the family of the Late Pa Alabi Olufemi David and Madam Alabi Aduke Comfort of Onilewe’s Compound, Ilobu. As a young lad filled with vitality, he started his primary education at the St Michael’s Primary School, Ilobu in 1969 and completed it in 1974 with a Primary School Leaving Certificate. In pursuance of his dream of becoming great in life, he proceeded to St Paul’s Modern School in 1974 and finished in 1976. After he had completed his modern school, he was admitted to Ilobu Secondary Commercial Grammar School in 1976 and finished in 1981 with his School Certificate at hand.

After his Secondary education, he was employed as “Auxilliary Teacher” by the Oyo State Ministry of Education to teach at Okiti Community Primary School, Ifon-Osun until 1986 when he got admitted into the Government Technical College, Ile-Ife to Study Electrical Installation Works. This was as a result of his inability to secure admission into the Teachers’ Training College. Unfortunately, he had to abandon his education at the Government Technical College the same year (1986) and sought around for employment. In 1987, he was employed by the Nigerian Breweries Lagos, where he worked for a while before quitting.

In quest for an acceptable, defendable and worthwhile roll of parchment; capable of redefining his steps and propelling him into greater heights in life, he sought for and gained admission into the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he studied Linguistic for his first degree and later between 2008 and 2010, he bagged a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the same university.

He had been in the employment of the Independent National Electoral Commission since its days as National Electoral Commission. Work in the Commission had taken him far and near; Imo State, Cross River, Bayelsa etc before he was redeployed to his present posting in Oyo State. He joined the Independent National Electoral Commission as a junior officer but today, to the glory of God, he has risen through hard work, honesty and dedication to duties to the position of Assistant Director Cadre.

As a foundation member of the New Moon Club 81, Ilobu, a social club with philanthropic gestures, he had and still giving his all to the service of humanity. His commitment to Ilobu agenda and exceptional interest in youths development is worthy of appreciation. In offering himself for selfless service, he was also a member of the now rested Confederation of Clubs, Ilobu which was established in 1986. The club was saddled with the responsibility of objectively criticizing the none-performance of the leadership of Irepodun Local Government, especially on issues that affect Ilobu community directly. He had also served in various capacities at the New Moon Club 81, Ilobu, using is wealth of experience to ensure that the New Moon Club 81 is alive to its responsibilities.

No doubt, his stubbornness to make it in life should serve as a source of inspiration to the up-coming ones. His quiet life is indeed a beautiful exemplification of the saying that “a filled barrel makes no sound but an empty one does”. He is proudly a good ambassador of Ilobu Community, a devout Christian of the Anglican Communion, an Evangelist, married and blessed with promising children.

Thus, considering the contribution of Mr. Alabi Oluwole Michael to the growth of Ilobu Community and his posture as a source of inspiration to the teeming youths, I therefore with every sense of respect and humility present him to the public for celebration and appreciation as an illustrious son of Ilobu Asake.

Dare Alabi,
Project Director
