ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU (VOLUME 2), 26TH EDITION.
"Aranfajo"
is no doubt a household name in Ilobu and her environs. The personality
that is synonymous with this name is a man of impeccable integrity, a
very jovial, lovely and highly cerebral human builder. He is a man whose
shop is located at the heart of the town, and it suddenly became a
grooming ground for future leaders.
Alhaji Tijani Olasupo Alabi was born on the 18th of March, 1938 at Jagun's Compound in Ilobu. His father was the Late Jinadu Awoleye Alabi, the then Jagun of Ilobu land who died in 1976. Alhaji Tijani Olasupo Alabi had his primary education at the St Michael's Primary School, Ilobu between 1948 and 1955.
After his primary education, he taught for 4 years at the L. A. Primary School, Ori-Oke Gbobamu, Ilobu before proceeding to the Ejigbo Teachers' Training College for his Grade II Certificate between 1961 and 1962. He took up the teaching job after his Grade II at Ejigbo. He then taught at several towns like Gbongan, Ode-Omu, Sekona etc before returning to AUD Primary School, Laaro, Ilobu in 1966. He taught with all that God bestowed on him at AUD Laaro for 10 solid years, grooming Young Minds and preparing future leaders. He was very outstanding in the discharge of his duties. He retired voluntarily in 1976 and went into trading; "Aranfajo Medicine Store" located at the Ilobu Central Business Area called "Garage".His shop was the people's rendezvous; an assembly of teachers, politicians, traditional tittle holders, socialites, students etc. It was an informal grooming ground for those who aspired to become successful in life. Many people just can't do without marking their presence at the shop every blessed day, hymn - what a sweet memory. The shop operated till 1992 when his son (Moshood Alabi) took over the business and relocated it to Inisa.
Alhaji Tijani Olasupo Alabi was a member of the Arowolo Society; a Social Club that paraded who is who in Ilobu. He served as a member of the Caretaker Committee of Irepodun Local Government between 1979 and 1980. He was also very active and participated at the level of Ilobu Development Union, Home Branch.
This amiable man also diligently and meritoriously served as the PTA Chairman of Ilobu Secondary Commercial Grammar School for 4 years and that gave him the opportunity to also function perfectly as the Chairman of all the Schools' PTA Chairmen in Irepodun Local Government. He was the Local Government representative at the state PTA meeting.
In recognition of his contributions to the growth of our precious town, Ilobu, I therefore humbly present him to the whole world for recognition and appreciation as an illustrious son of Ilobu Asake.
