ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU, 24TH EDITION

He is unarguably one of the very few Big Brothers who inspired us to whatever height we might have grown to achieve today.

He is soft spoken, quiet, calculative and highly intelligent. Sometimes, his voice betrays what he is capable of doing – he is no doubt a master strategist , very good at matching out plans with results and goals. In him, I have learnt a deviant pursuance and style of combining academics with entrepreneurship, which greatly helped to tow my boat to harbor as a student in the greatest Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Mikail Adejare Adebisi had his secondary education at Ilobu Secondary Commercial Grammar School, Ilobu. He proceeded for higher learning at the greatest Obafemi Awolowo University Ile, Ife, where he bagged a B.Sc Degree in Sociology/Anthropology, M.Sc. degree in International Relation and LLB.BL degree in Law. As a student, he was combining academics with entrepreneurial activities, a rare thing in our community then. This covertly gave impetus to many struggling students to add additional means of income generation to their desperate urge for higher studies.

His urge and that of many others for a desirable students’ body gave birth to Ilobu National Students’ Union coincidentally at the wedding ceremony of his older brother; Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun. Right from the formative stage of the Union, he had given his all to it. He became the National President in 1994 after a keenly contested election between him and Dr. Alani Adeyemi. That election would go down in the annals of Ilobu National Students’ Union as a contest between two great Titans. The election shook the pulse of the community, encouraged many youths to embrace western education and inspired others already at different higher institution to partake in INSU activities. “I hail the Head of Cabals”

In quest for a better ‘morrow, he opted to combine politics with his legal practice. He was elected councilor as a UNCP candidate in 1999. His performance then coupled with his humility shot him into limelight and thus continued to wax stronger and stronger as a politician. He was an Assistant Chief of Staff in the State of Osun.No doubt, Mikail Adejare Adebisi is loved by both old and young in the community for his sense of listening, support for individual, communal growth, Clubs and Association particularly Ilobu National Students’ Union. His ability to mobilize and strategize for his political party also added to his weight as a politician. Need to add that his contributions to the then Ilobu Descendants’ Union which has metamorphosed into Ilobu Development Union is worthy of appreciationtoo.

Unfortunately, his illness for some time now had cut him off of some of these social responsibilities that he is known for. “Health is Life”, thus we give thanks to almighty God for his recuperation and further pray to God for total recovery backed up with resounding success.

I therefore, in recognition of his outstanding inputs into the growth of natives and Ilobu community and with a deep sense of humility present Barrister Mikail Adejare Adebisi to the whole world as an Illustrious son of Ilobu Asake.

Dare Alabi,
Project Director.
