ILLUSTRIOUS SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ILOBU, 27TH EDITION
He
walks briskly with smiles on his fair complexioned handsome face all
the times. This smile depicts a lot of things about his personality. His
honesty, dedication to duty, humility, high sense of leadership, love
for ones community and care for fellow mortals and many other sterling
qualities here rolled into this one fine personality. Also,
his respect for constituted authority, ability to stomach anger,
passion for development and undiluted optimism explained the complexity
of creation.
Chief Paul Odeyemi was born on the 25th day of August, 1951 to the family of Late Chief James Ojelade Odeyemi and Madam FeliciaAdebisi Odeyemi of Aromiwe’s Compound, Ilobu. This amiable, charming and charismatic personality started his quest for western education at St Michael’s Anglican Primary School, Ilobu in 1956 and proceeded to St Paul’s Secondary Modern School in 1966 where he spent just a year. He enrolled at Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo in 1968 and graduated in 1971. He also attended the Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, Ibadan between 1980 and 1981.After his graduation from the cooperative college, he became a Cooperative Inspector and was first posted to Ago-Are in Oyo State in 1981. As a Cooperative Instructor, he worked meritoriously at several other towns and Local Government in both Oyo and Osun States.
As a civil servant, he saw the glimpse of a better future in civil work through the attainment of training and knowledge related to one’s work. Thus, while working he embarked on a determined pursuance of further studies. He got admitted to study Advanced Diploma in Management Study at the prestigious Polytechnic of Ibadan (Ise logun Ise) between 1999 and 2001. Between 2003 and 2004, he bagged a Diploma in Cooperative Study from the Osun State Cooperative College, Odeomu. In the year 2007, he proceeded to the famous Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, where he had his Higher National Diploma in Accounting in 2009. Steadily, with utmost determination, he was able to equip himself academically and this was good enough to boost his career in the civil service. From a Cooperative Inspector, he rose to the position of an Assistant Director at the Osun State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative, Osogbo and bowed out honourably in 2012.
His passion for community service is immeasurable. He is a foundation member of Ilobu Descendants’ Union now Ilobu Development Union. He was the first Auditor of the Union in 1992, a position he held for several years. He has served at various positions and committees at Ilobu Development Union. He is presently the 1st National Vice President of Ilobu Development Union. He coordinated, organized and directed Ilobu Day activities as the Chairman of the planning committee since 2014 till date.
Also, in recognition of his outstanding service to the community, his uprightness and fairness in handling issues combined with his leadership qualities which he has displayed on several occasions, the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan installed him as Baale Alata of Oke-Ilata on the 17th day of April, year 2010.
Chief Paul Odeyemi is a devoted Christian who worships with the Anglican Church Pako, Ilobu but he is very receptive and associates heartily with Muslims. He is a Peoples Warden in the church and a member of the PCC, the apex body at the Anglican Church, Pako.
For his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of Ilobu and her natives cum being a role model to the up-coming youths, I therefore humbly present Chief Paul Odeyemi as an Illustious son of Ilobu Asake.
